Stars Hall of Fame

The Stars Hall of Fame in Orlando, FL was owned and operated by the Six Flags company which also ran the famous Movieland Wax Museum in Buena Park, CA.

On the cover of this retro-brochure is a gold Rolls-Royce, and I was informed by a reader that the Movieland in California also had a gold Rolls-Royce. This is interesting because the Movieland Wax Museum in Niagara Falls, Ontario (which a recently blogged about) also featured a gold Rolls-Royce. I guess if you run a wax museum devoted to movie stars you're required to have a gold Rolls on hand.

The Stars Hall of Fame rolled up its red carpet for good in 1984, and Movieland Wax Museum in Buena Park, CA closed in 2005.

That's so weird....every single color photo in this brochure could have been taken at Movieland in Buena Park, California, EXCEPT for the scene of Louis Armstrong and...is that Ella Fitzgerald with him? The other scenes all look absolutely identical! I wonder if they could have been photographed at the CA museum and then used for the FL brochure?

That scene on the cover was from "Sunset Blvd." That's Gloria Swanson as Norma Desmond. Next to her is "Max" the butler/chauffeur/ex-husband, and behind her is William Holden.

Thanks for sharing this!

P.S. I just checked a postcard I have of that same "Sunset Blvd." scene from Movieland in CA. The description on the back states that the scene is complete with a $10,000 Rolls Royce and Gloria Swanson's own chinchilla wrap. Unfortunately, there isn't a date, but when were Rolls Royces $10,000???

Is the $10,000 Rolls actually functional?

Now that you have pointed it out, I can see that those are the characters from "Sunset Blvd." Never knew the car in that move was gold.
